Terms of Service

Rules for using the Project Zek website, Discord integration, community services, and game server.

Effective: 15 August 2026 Last updated: 15 August 2026

1. Agreement and scope

These Terms form an agreement between you and Project Zek Administrators (“Project Zek,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply when you access or use project-zek.com, a Project Zek web account, the Project Zek Discord application or bot, the login server, the EverQuest emulator game server, and related community features (collectively, the “Services”).

By creating an account, linking Discord, connecting to the game server, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old and at least the minimum age required to use Discord and online services in your country. If you are not legally able to enter into these Terms on your own, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to them for you.

You may not use the Services if applicable law prohibits you from doing so or if we have previously suspended or terminated you and have not given written permission to return.

3. Accounts and security

  • Provide accurate registration information and keep it reasonably current.
  • Keep your website, login-server, game, email, and Discord credentials secure.
  • Do not share, sell, trade, or transfer accounts unless we expressly permit it.
  • You are responsible for activity conducted through your accounts until you notify us of suspected compromise.
  • One Discord identity may be linked to only one Project Zek web account. We may require Discord linking for features such as creating or using a login-server account.

4. Discord linking and bot features

When you choose to link Discord, you authorize Project Zek to receive your Discord user ID, username, and avatar through Discord’s identify authorization scope and associate them with your Project Zek account. You may unlink Discord through Account Settings, although unlinking may disable Discord-gated features.

If configured, the bot may confirm that you belong to the Project Zek Discord server, read your current server roles, and add or remove Project Zek team roles based on the teams represented by your game characters. The bot also imports announcements and patch notes from designated Discord channels for display on the website.

Discord is a third-party service. Your use of Discord remains subject to the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

5. Community and game-server rules

Project Zek is a competitive PvP environment, but competition does not excuse conduct that harms the service or community. You must not:

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, dox, defraud, or target others with hateful or unlawfully discriminatory conduct.
  • Exploit bugs, duplicate items or currency, manipulate packets, evade technical restrictions, or conceal an exploit instead of reporting it privately to staff.
  • Use cheats, unauthorized automation, modified clients, or third-party tools that provide an unfair advantage or violate published server rules.
  • Attack, probe, overload, reverse engineer for abuse, or interfere with the website, bot, login server, game server, databases, networks, or other users’ connections.
  • Impersonate staff or other players, evade a suspension or ban, or help another person evade enforcement.
  • Buy, sell, or exchange accounts, characters, items, currency, services, or access for real-world value.
  • Upload or distribute malware, unlawful material, infringing content, private information, or sexual content involving minors.

Staff may publish additional gameplay or community rules. Those rules supplement these Terms. Staff may investigate activity using game, account, security, and moderation records and may act to protect the Services and community.

6. Enforcement and appeals

We may warn, mute, rename, restrict, suspend, or permanently terminate accounts, characters, Discord-linked features, or access to any Service when we reasonably believe these Terms or applicable rules have been violated, security is at risk, or action is needed to protect the community or Services.

Enforcement may apply across web, login-server, game, and community accounts that we reasonably determine belong to the same person. You may ask staff to review an action, but submitting an appeal does not guarantee reversal. Do not evade enforcement while an appeal is pending.

7. Game state and virtual items

Characters, items, currency, rankings, guilds, points, and other game-state records are features of a free community service. They have no cash value and do not create a property interest or entitlement to continued availability.

We may patch, rebalance, correct, restore, roll back, wipe, rename, move, or remove game state when reasonably needed for gameplay, testing, security, data integrity, or service operation.

8. Your content

You retain any rights you hold in screenshots, messages, reports, feedback, or other content you submit. You grant Project Zek a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, adapt for formatting, display, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate, moderate, secure, and promote the Services.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your content. We may remove content that violates these Terms, another person’s rights, or applicable law.

9. Intellectual property and fan-project notice

Project Zek is an independent, non-commercial, fan-run project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Daybreak Game Company LLC. EverQuest®, its game assets, names, lore, and related intellectual property belong to their respective rights holders. These Terms do not grant you rights in third-party intellectual property.

Project Zek names, original website code, original written material, and other original project materials are protected to the extent permitted by law. You may not falsely present yourself as Project Zek staff or use our original materials in a way that suggests endorsement.

10. Availability and changes

The Services are provided free of charge and may be changed, interrupted, suspended, or discontinued at any time. We do not promise uninterrupted access, compatibility with a particular client or device, preservation of game state, or that defects will always be corrected. We may perform emergency maintenance or act without advance notice when reasonably necessary.

11. Disclaimers and responsibility

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties of availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You use the Services at your own risk and are responsible for protecting your own device, credentials, and backups.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded. Otherwise, Project Zek is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, loss of game progress or virtual items, third-party conduct, Discord outages, or interruption of a free service. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

12. Termination by you

You may stop using the Services at any time, unlink Discord in Account Settings, and request or use available account-deletion tools. Deleting the website account removes that web account and its login-server mapping, but does not automatically delete the separate login-server account, characters, game records, moderation records, or records we must retain for security or legal reasons. See the Privacy Policy for details.

13. Updates, severability, and contact

We may update these Terms as the Services or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and, when reasonably practical, announce material changes on the website or official Discord server. Continued use after an updated version takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply. A failure to enforce a provision once is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

Questions about these Terms may be directed to webmaster@project-zek.org.
